wealthAPI Featured in Bitkom White Paper: Compliance Automation as a Real-World Use Case
In March 2026, the German digital association Bitkom published the white paper “Beyond the Pilot – Artificial Intelligence in the Insurance Industry.” The paper addresses decision-makers at insurance companies and InsurTechs, documenting scaled AI applications across the entire insurance value chain – from underwriting and claims management through to governance and compliance.
wealthAPI is featured with a use case in this white paper.
The context: employee personal trading as a regulatory obligation
Insurance companies are required to systematically monitor the securities transactions of their employees – particularly those in leadership positions – to prevent insider trading and conflicts of interest. In practice, this process still runs manually at many organisations: custody account statements are submitted as PDFs or in paper form and checked individually against blacklists, restricted lists and internal mandates. This ties up compliance resources that are needed for risk analysis and governance tasks.
The wealthAPI Compliance Manager
The wealthAPI Compliance Manager fully digitalises this workflow and automates it with AI support. Employees connect their custody accounts – from more than 3,500 integrated banks – directly via API. Alternatively, documents can be uploaded and structured by AI algorithms. The platform analyses transactions and holdings in real time, including complex derivatives and indirect holdings via funds and certificates. All activity is automatically cross-referenced against company-specific policies; if a potential violation is detected, the compliance department receives an immediate alert in the admin dashboard.
The technical foundation: a regulated data integration platform with proprietary bank interfaces, ISO 27001-certified, GDPR-compliant, hosted in Germany.
The results
According to the white paper, manual review effort is reduced by up to 90 percent. Response time drops from multi-day processing to real-time results. At the same time, complete transparency is established across all reportable employees and associated persons within a single centralised system – regardless of the number of connected custody accounts.
Context and significance
Inclusion in the Bitkom white paper reflects that the wealthAPI Compliance Manager is recognised as a proven use case within the German insurance industry. For wealthAPI, the compliance space is a concrete application area in which the depth of its wealth data aggregation – spanning bank connections, transaction histories, custody account positions and derivatives – delivers measurable operational value.
The full white paper is available for download on the Bitkom website (German only).
